Item Description
These items span 1929-1940 each consisting of a pin-back button ranging in size from 1.25" to 1.75". Each button holds a ribbon which joins to a tin litho basketball about 1-5/8" in diameter and most marked along an edge "Made In Germany." The ribbon on the "Vikings" button has about 50% split where the ribbon joins the ball. A couple of the basketballs have a few rub marks or a bit of irregular coloration and a couple additional ribbons have small splits along the left and right edges. The only button with significant age is for "South Carolina" which has dark stain on extreme edge. Vast majority of the pieces are VF to Exc. Compared to those buttons holding litho tin figural footballs these basketball versions are exceedingly scarce. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
