Item Description
First is 1.25" button showing "Dunham Family" with a W&H back paper used only in 1896-1897. This quartet was generally known as the Marvelous Dunham Family and they appear on this button in tights. During the era they performed as a circus troop or in vaudeville halls. NM and displays Mint. Next is a pair of beautiful sepia real photo buttons without dot pattern. Both have the same real photo and both read "Star Of Vaudeville/Charmion" but one has the additional words "At Orpheum." Both buttons carry back papers by Hyatt, Baltimore. They are c. 1900. Charmion opened her stage act dressed in full Victorian street attire. She then mounted a trapeze and disrobed down to her leotards while in the midst of swinging on the trapeze. Considered quite risqué for the era, she performed her strip tease for an Edison short film titled "Trapeze Disrobing Act" on November 11, 1901. Both buttons have high gloss and are NM displaying Mint.
