Item Description
3x8.5" to 8.5x11". Some of the most outrageously racist material from the era. Several pieces take particular aim at Martin Luther King including: a "Boat Ticket To Africa" w/amenities listed including "Framed Picture Of Eleanor Roosevelt And Harry Golden. Twist To Martin Luther Coon's Jazz Band"; rally flier w/arrow pointing to image of MLK reading "He Votes Black!" and another pointing to image of Rockwell reading "You Vote White!"; official press release that includes campaign promise "..Official Governor's Pardon For White Men Unfairly Convicted Of Shooting Any Race Agitators... Could Even Pardon A Man Who Shot Martin Luther King" and a folded pamphlet w/image of King at top right titled "How You Can Beat The Federal Race-Mixers" that opens to a 17.5x22" poster featuring a graphic of shaking hands labeled as "White Democrats" and "White Republicans" over burning protest signs one labeled "We Shall Overcome" and having a communist party logo. Also included is: letter on official stationary and an anti-integration flier. All items were produced for the 1965 Virginia Gubernatorial campaign. Minor handling wear and light toning but each is in essentially file copy condition. Exc. to NM.
