Item Description
6.5" long mostly tin litho toy by Horikowa, Japan. c. 1962 issued to commemorate John Glenn's first manned orbital space flight. The plain box bottom shows wear with staple rust/staining. Lid also has wear at staples, edge wear but remains tight with strong color. Displays Fine. Toy is marked on each side "Friendship-7." Has clear plastic windows and visible on inside is astronaut behind detailed control panel. Figure wears helmet and goggles, suit has small atomic symbols and marked "X-3." Friction works and activates "Rocket Engine Noise" although toy does not spark as flint is missing. Scattered trace of paint wear with pinpoint paint nicks but all remains bright and glossy. VF.
