Item Description
16.75x24.25". Printed in "Paris" and translating to "We Must Save Bobby Seale." Text at bottom left reads "Comite de Solidarite Aux B.P.P.- Simone de Beauvoir." Translating to Committee In Solidarity With The Black Panther Party." Likely produced c.1969 when the Panthers participated in the Pan-African Cultural Festival in Algiers, Algeria. The festival attracted attendees from across the globe and notably from France. See lot #466 for additional history. At the time Seale had been charged in connection w/the notorious riot occurring at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, IL. Handling wear contained predominately to the margins, a staple holes in each corner and one pin hole just right of top center. Extremely Fine. The first we can recall being offered.
