Item Description
8.5x11". c. 1969.  Reprints article by Jason Epstein and cartoons by Jules Feiffer originally published in The New York Review Of Books. Cover has additional text "The Conspiracy" and an illustration of Seale w/a gag in his mouth. Reverse reprints an E. E. Cummings poem. Center spread has pictures of the Chicago 8; Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Tom Hayden, Rennie Davis, John Froines, Lee Weiner and Seale. Photos are accompanied by a quote by Fred Hampton, Chairman Illinois Black Panther Party and a refrain to the Cummings poem on back cover "But They Mean To Kill Us All." The group was charged w/inciting the riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. During the trial Seale protested that he was denied his constitutional right to defend himself and was bound and gagged on the order of Judge Hoffman. Eventually Hoffman severed Seale from the trial, thus creating the Chicago 7. High grade condition w/white pages and super clean wrapper. NM. Rare and likely a file copy.
