Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains 11" long hard plastic free-wheeling racer made in Hong Kong by unknown maker, c. 1965. Box shows some scattered wear w/impression line across main lid panel. Box is o/w VF/Exc. Box lid has photo image of Indy racer w/"160 MPH" on hood. In 1965 a Lotus 38 driven by Jim Clark was the first car to perform a 160 MPH lap at Indianapolis. This replica w/same "160 MPH" on hood was sold by Montgomery Ward at that time to capitalize on the feat. Car has Ward promotional text decals on sides for their Riverside tires and "Sportsmanship Safety Club." Racer produces loud "engine" noise as it moves along. NM.
