Item Description
Double-sided 2.75x4-1/8" thin cardboard card features small full body image of Popeye w/tiny portrait images of Popeye, Wimpy, Olive Oyl and Tor at corners. "Popeye Club" name at top w/recipient's handwritten name/address in pencil and theater manager's name stamp and inked number. Back has "The Popeye Club Creed" and has ring of oxidation from button collet (though button offered in this lot does not exhibit this issue). Card has some handling wear w/creases and front has .25" rub line. Fine overall. Scarce. Comes w/15/16" dia. button w/"Popeye The Sailor - A Paramount Picture" text and 1935 KFS copyright. Parisian Novelty Co. maker's name on rim. These buttons were typically issued w/ theater imprint, this example has "Dexter Theatre Popeye Club" imprint. Glossy and Exc.
