Item Description
Glossy 8x10" vintage publicity photo shows Russian actress and acting teacher Maria Ouspenskaya (1876-1949) in her later years, reclining in a high-backed chair while wearing a monocle. Ouspenskaya achieved success as a stage actress as a young woman in Russia, and as an elderly woman in Hollywood films, notably playing Maleva, The Gypsy Woman in Universal's 1940 horror classic "The Wolf Man" and in its sequel "Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man." She was also nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 1936's "Dodsworth." Ouspenskaya has inscribed photo at upper right in blue ink, "To Mr. S. Tatta With Best Wishes - Madame Ouspenskaya." Photo has some minor corner tip wear and tiny nick along lower left margin, but if framed, would display Exc. Comes with Hake's COA, PSA/DNA COA and JSA LOA.
