Item Description
Offered here are pair of 2.25x4.25x2" tall Zell Products Co. banks in treasure chest style. Both are 1930s and include two different varieties - standard (which came in a number of color varieties) and a version issued at the 1933-1934 Chicago World's Fair. Standard cream/red version and "1933-1934 Chicago - Mickey And Minnie At The World's Fair" cream/green version, both designed like chests. Each features metal overlaid w/lightly embossed oilcloth fabric and brass-plated side panels. Brick pattern and full figure images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse on top w/"Mickey Mouse Bank - Be Thrifty - Save Your Coins" text on standard version and "Mickey Mouse Bank" entrance w/portraits of Mickey and Minnie at windows and additional "Deposit Your Coins In The Mickey Mouse Bank" text on front side. Missing key. Moderate luster wear to the brass-plated side panels, lt. wear to the fabric-covered body. VF. World's Fair version has three images of buildings from the Fair on front and has lt. wear to fabric-covered body. Has generic key and bottom panel has been pried open, w/some bending to the metal. Bank also has wear to brass side panels. Fine overall.
