Item Description
Each is 1.25". First two have W&H back papers used only 1900-1912 and the third has W&H paper used only in 1896-97. First two buttons are in great color and issued for amusement rides titled "The Great Coal Mine" and "Ye Olde Mill." Both of these are Exc. and display Mint. Third has celluloid with numerous diagonal craze lines although they are really just apparent mainly in reflected light. Pictured is man on a kneeling camel surrounded by text "G. Akoun/Streets Of Cairo/Let-Him-Go, Gallagher." The name "G. Akoun" refers to Gaston Akoun who was a famous world's fair promoter who began his first exhibit at the Columbian Expo in 1893 and was then a presence at following fairs over the next decade as well as at Coney Island. Only the second button we've seen to bear his name and the name of his exhibition and the first with this exact inscription. Still displays cleanly with full gloss. Last is c. 1930 button with union bug back stamp. Great color depiction of woman holding onto life preserver floating in the ocean beneath text "Souvenir Coney Island." NM displaying Mint. See following Coney Island group.
