Item Description
Sam Carrigan spent one year in Minor League baseball as a shortstop for the Class D Beaver Falls Bees in 1941 before serving in World War II. After the war, he spent nine seasons as a Minor League umpire before serving as an umpire in the AL from 1961-1965. Offered here is a 5-3/8x9x8.5" tall overall custom display piece done for and presented to Carrigan utilizing a painted and glazed ceramic cast of the famous Rittgers plaster set depicting a 7-1/8" tall batter and 6.75" tall pitcher looking ready to fight as 6-1/8" tall calm looking umpire stands between them. Carrigan's facsimile signature appears on surface before umpire figure. Exc. Unique piece.
