Item Description
This was NBC's longest running western, which lasted 14 seasons between 1959 and 1973. With the exception of row 2 #2 these buttons are all from the earlier years of the series. Sizes are 1.5" to 3". This smallest button is a retro issue and no older than the 1980s. It has no text other than a hand inked "Bonanza" on the metal back. NM. The vintage items begin with one reading "Bonanza Booster" and showing all the four stars. Tiny raised bump center right caused by the reverse pin. Next and also showing all four is from event titled "Bonanza Days Virginia, Nev." Third is a button issued as part of an Australian series which featured American western shows being shown in that country. The "Rodeo" button is from 1961 and was issued in Fort Madison, Iowa. Button includes photo and text "Michael Landon/Bonanza's 'Little Joe.'" This from a rarity standpoint is probably the scarcest in the group although none of these are common. The group ends up with four items 2.5" diameter made of litho tin. These have a narrow edge and an open back with a printed black line pointing to a spot where there is a generous drop of adhesive holding a vertical stickpin. Two pieces have what is original adhesive while the other two have what seems to be a rubbery plastic replacement with one coming slightly loose. In any case, the odd thing is that the four pins point from the bottom upward if the front of the piece is being viewed directly. This would be upside down if one were going to wear the piece as a badge. While unmarked, these are European issues. Each features an Exc. color portrait with only a few tiny dots of wear. As far as Bonanza buttons go, this is a very in depth group with only a couple examples known to us that are not included. Exc. to NM.
