Item Description
Sizes are 1.25" up to a 4" button suspended from a hanger. First button, with blank back paper and likely c. 1903 shows flaming buildings above text "Behold The Ashes Of 1893." This refers to a fire in Northeast Minneapolis 8/13/1893 during which 23 city blocks burned. Tiny bit of grey tone mixed in with the design. First we've seen. Next is great city promotional button titled "Minneapolis Aims." W&H paper used 1900-1912. Next is button for Duluth Carnival. This has back paper, rarely seen, from Consolidated Stamp & Ptg. Co./Duluth. Next is fraternal button with cartoon of man riding a goat. Back paper by Wendel & Greenwood, Minneapolis. Next at 1.75" and with W&H paper pictures "L.W. Ayer/First White Boy Born In Minnesota/He Will Be With You In Pine City In 1915." Next with W&H paper is St. Paul Carnival button from 1903 showing a "Carnival Court" and a man behind bars but this button apparently made the wearer "Immune From Arrest." Convex surface. Next is giant 4" button promoting St. Paul. Cardboard back with paper sticker from Western Badge. A bar on the back  once held a ribbon now gone. c. 1915. Last and the most recent button in the group is a 1940 button for "Minnesota's Barnyard Homecoming/Minnesota Vs. Iowa." Another first we've seen. All buttons with minor exceptions as noted are NM displaying Mint. Many rarities.
