Item Description
11-3/8x15" Bainbridge Board has pen and ink original art w/mixed media coloring. Specialty art depicts Batman as he appeared in spotlight on the cover of "Batman" #9, though he is depicted here w/o Robin. Art is by comic book artist Jack Burnley (1911-2006), the first artist, after Superman co-creator Joe Shuster, to draw Superman. Art has been signed at lower right in black felt tip pen by Burnley, who has added personal inscription in blue ink at lower left, reading "To Bill, All The Best, Jack Burnley - '93." Artboard has some faint scattered age spots, but art remains clean and is VF overall. See lot of Burnley letters, #1668.
