Item Description
Elaborate cast iron mechanical sharpener measures 14" long, Made in Germany by Guhl & Harbeck, 1920s. German text on side of machine translates to "Pencil Sharpener" and lists "Jupiter" model name. There is an attached brass medallion w/raised company text, logo and Hamburg location. Opposite side features additional German text. Machine is crank-driven, which turns a series of gears along central shaft, in turn sharpening pencil. Scattered paint wear and wear to text. Some minor oxidation to inner workings of largest gear assembly but moves smoothly. Fine.
