Item Description
14x22" thin cardboard poster for boxing match held in Miami Beach, FL on Feb. 25, 1964. Poster is for closed circuit TV viewing at Fox Theatre (city not listed). Nice photos "Champion Sonny Liston" and "Challenger Cassius Clay" in his pre-Ali days. The first of two fights between Liston and Clay for boxing's World Heavyweight Championship, the match was among the most anticipated, watched and controversial fights in the sport's history. "Sports Illustrated" named this match (in which Clay won the Championship from Liston during this match) as the fourth greatest sports moment of the 20th Century. Poster features promotional text including - "No Home TV - See It Exclusively In This Area On Closed Circuit Big Screen Theatre TV - Reserved Seat Tickets At Box Office." Poster shows obvious moisture staining along lower right w/scattered age spotting and warping to poster. VG overall.
