Item Description
11.75" tall "Cell-U-Pon" papier-maché figure of author Robert F. Schulkers' book character Seckatary Hawkins (whose adventures appeared in books published 1921-1932), a fat boy w/a cowlick hairdo who records daily minutes of the adventures of a remarkably organized group of boys. While never the president of the club, Hawkins is clearly the smartest member and the leader. He is regularly called upon by the books' few adult characters and many of the youthful ones to solve various mysteries and to keep the area safe. Offered here is figure by Unger Doll & Toy Co. (as noted by label on underside of base) of Milwaukee, WI. Produced in 1932, base has raised "Seckatary Hawkins" name. Offered as a newspaper premium. Scattered surface wear w/several paint rubs/flakes. VG. Rare and obscure piece.
