Item Description
5.5x6.5" enameled cast metal tray w/1.25" thickness at top. Incised "Flick Your Ashes On Hitler's Hearth" text across mantel front. Centered above this inscription is a .25x.75" inset piece of actual marble. Bottom of hearth has incised text noting "This Is An Exact Copy Of The Fireplace In Hitler's Former Home At Berchtesgarden From Which The Marble Piece Inset Above Is An Actual Part Taken From There One Month After V-E Day." Underside has applied documentation decal noting that the marble inset is from the drawing room hearth located in Hitler's mountain retreat, obtained by three undersigned individuals while on "Technical War Assignment" in June 1945. Signatures include - Albert J. Weatherhead Jr. and document also has small designation "Compliments Of The Weatherhead Company." Underside corners have applied felt disc skid pads. Scattered lt. wear/aging. VF/Exc.
