Item Description
Kit includes original envelope w/"Supermen Of America" address and inked recipient name/address (a patriotic wartime postmark), 5.5x8-3/8" welcome letter noting contents of kit and featuring classic image of Superman breaking chains, 5.5x9" cardstock "Superman's Secret Code" folder, 1.25" dia. member's buttons featuring same image of Superman breaking chains and 8-3/8x10-7/8" certificate w/typed name, address and age. Horizontal fold at center as mailed. This certificate differs in that it features "Detective Comics, Inc." copyright at bottom but no date. Certificate dates to the early 1940s and is numbered "147495" at lower right. This version of the certificate (as well as the welcome letter) mentions "Action Comics" at end. Envelope shows expected wear from mailing and is VF. All else remains bright, clean and VF-Exc. Franco Toscanini Collection.
