Item Description
1.25" w/brass safety pin on reverse. The Second International Socialist Women's Conference was held on Aug. 26-27 in Copenhagen. One hundred delegations of women from 17 countries attended. The event featured discussions on women's suffrage w/a debate between German delegates in favor of merging the struggle w/the larger working class struggle and the British delegation who opposed it. The event also endorsed the idea of an international day of action in the spirit of May Day celebrations declared in 1889. This was eventually institutionalized as International Women's Day.
