Item Description
1.75" with W&H back paper which is tanned and has numerous darker spots although the celluloid itself is NM displaying Mint. This rare horse racing button has incredible detail and even more so under magnification. At the bottom is text naming the horses "Prince Alert-Democracy-Marl" while beneath this is "Copyrighted, 1899. W.M. Flickinger." Text across the top of the button reads "Half Mile Track Pacing Kings/World's Record Bethlehem, Pa/Time 2. 06/Oct. 26, 1899." The race was held at the fairgrounds under the auspices of the Pennsylvania State Fair Association. Only example we've seen.
