Item Description
Pen & ink artwork matted 20.25x23". Open size 16.75x19". Felix Mahony (1867-1939), cartoonist for Washington Star & founder of national art school. Original signed art "To Mr. Jerry Compliments Of Felix Mahony 1905." Depicts TR's nine cabinet members running in line, each bearing an axe with names of their respective cabinet posts: Root (state), Taft (war), Bonaparte (Navy), Moody (justice), Shaw (treasury), Hitchcock (interior), Wilson (agriculture), Metcalf (commerce) and Cortelyou (post office). White House in bkg. and buzzard-like bird in foreground with word balloon "Gee Whiz!" Aged wood staining on reverse from previous framing. Front has minor aging with a couple pinpoint holes, only noticeable below word balloon. Overall Exc. Comes with Hake's COA.
