Item Description
1.25" with two dots of age on the reverse by the collet but with front essentially Mint. Button pictures Howdy as he appeared when this button was offered March 23, 1948 as part of the first Howdy Doody for President campaign. At the time, the show was carried only on five East Coast stations and the offer for the button was made only seven times. NBC Television was astonished by 60,000 requests that poured into their mailroom. This initial response inspired national firms like Colgate, Continental Baking, Ovaltine and Mars candy to quickly sign on as show sponsors. The first ever button for Howdy and a historic TV premium.
