Auction 188 - Part I
Item numbers 1 though 933 in auction 188
Item Description
Only 7,500 of these 2" medals were struck. Truman profile portrait in raised relief is on obverse and reverse is centered by goddess figure flanked by inscription "Harry S. Truman Inaugurated/President Of The United States January 20, 1949." The finish on these medals was very susceptible to spotting but this example was stored in tissue in its original "generic" box and essentially remains Mint. Only visible flaw is 1/16" pale dot on female figure's robe at the waist. Comes in white inner box contained within brown 1x3x3" cardboard outer box w/"Truman" written on lid in green ink. Rare, particularly in this condition.
