Item Description
DeWitt 1792-1 and Hake 3021 in brass 1" in diameter. Obverse text "George Washington" surrounds bust in military uniform. Only the slightest smoothing of hair details above his ear. Reverse around "Success To The United States". At center, 1/8" design of an eye has little detail remaining but the surrounding diverging rays which alternate with 15 stars remain sharp as is the motto. The motto was inspired by Washington's plea that Divine Providence "Crown Our Mutual Endeavors." This example does not have an obverse die break as do most and this is the larger of two sizes. The only 1793 metallic artifact from Washington's second inaugural. VF. Ted Watts Collection.
