Item Description
8.5" long. Reverse reads "In Memoriam Local Union No. 1445 UMW Of A Broadtop, PA. Two 3" vertical slits in fabric that do not affect front of ribbon. Front features a large 2.5" embossed metal hanger w/text "8 Hours United We Stand Divided We Fall In Union There Is Strength" at center a 7/8" cello reads "UMW of A Eight Hours April 1st 1898" w/handshake graphic. Top bar repeats handshake graphic. Census records show a population of 258 for Broadtop City, PA in 1900 so not many of these could have been produced and this is likely the only extant. Outside of the two slits on reverse this badge is NM and displays essentially Mint. Among the most outstanding labor badges we have encountered. Ted Watts Collection.
