Item Description
16" tall high quality felt doll w/three-dimensional head featuring separate eyes and massive beak; head measures 7" from front to back. Doll is complete w/hat and three tailfeathers. The eyes are three layers of felt, all applied to green felt head. 1940s, around the time the character appeared in the Disney animated features "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros" w/Donald Duck. Green areas of the velveteen have slightest fading but this is really only noticeable if one lifts up the felt jacket to expose slightly brighter green color where the material was not exposed to light. Extremely clean overall, doll is Exc. Doll does not stand independently and requires a prop to stand upright. Although unmarked, this doll shares characteristics w/a high quality doll that was made expressly by Charlotte Clark (which we sold in our Sept. 2010 auction) as was likely made around the same time and in very limited numbers. First we've seen in our 49 years.
