Item Description
Original plain cardboard box w/illustrated end label contains 15" tall (to top of separate fabric hat, doll is 11" tall) doll by Ideal. 1938. Box shows obvious wear w/several large clear tape repairs to corner splits and lid edge split. VG. Box is scarce. Multiple size/style dwarf dolls were produced that year by not only Ideal, but also Knickerbocker and Krueger. Ideal made this larger size doll in two versions, this is version w/composition head/arms while the other version has stuffed oilcloth head and arms. Nice doll w/stuffed fabric body, mostly felt outfit (w/corduroy pants), painted composition face and separate hat w/"Dopey" name silk-screened on front. Complete w/yarn belt. Outfit and body remain very clean, w/just hands showing some aging. Head has typical hairline crazing and one ear has shallow .25" flake, but o/w head retains a bright and clean appearance. VF.
