Item Description
2-1/16" tall brass prototype badge which is one of a small number of prototype premiums which came into the hobby via an employee of the maker Robbins Co., Attleboro, Mass. in the 1970s. This badge was considered for use c. 1938. In addition to a lead proof there were three color variations produced and this is the version with the word "Wrangler" in blue. Also unique to this piece is a blue background around the checkerboard border with the words "Tom Mix Ralston Straight Shooters." These prototypes feature the checkerboard design in brass with metallic coloration but the badge eventually decided upon for 1938 features the checkerboard Ralston logo area done as a metallic foil applied to the brass rather than the actual coloration being printed onto the brass. Likely unique and essentially Mint as made. Comes with Hake's COA from when we first offered this item back in Auction #205, March 2012.
