Item Description
11x16" thin artboard features artist Daan Jippe's pen and ink original art for the cover to the Aug. 1987 issue of "Mickey Mouse" #229, published by Gladstone. Jippes is a cartoonist, who has worked w/Disney and other comics. He is admired by his fans for his lively emulation of Carl Barks' drawing style and he provided many covers for Gladstone Publishing's Disney magazines in the 1980s and 1990s in a great variety of styles. Cover features Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Western garb, Mickey w/pistol drawn. Sheriff Dumbrow is seen in bkg. w/his arms up before cactus bearing symbol of The Bat Bandit, who looms towards Mickey and Minnie from behind another cactus. Art has blue pencil preliminary art and hand-lettered title visible. Cover has also been inked by Jippes, who has signed in black felt tip pen at lower right. Exc.
