Item Description
2.5x1-3/8". Issued in 1927 by the York Caramel Co. of York, PA, these black and white cards are among the last of the caramel issues. Fronts have the player's name preceded by a number in parentheses directly beneath their photo. The reverse also lists the players name with a brief phrase describing him, and in the case of Babe Ruth reads "Greatest Slugger of All Times." Type 1 and 2 are differentiated by the direction of the text on the reverse, in this case Type 1 since the text is to the right. The complete set consists of 60 cards. This card is definitely the key card in the set and the image of Ruth remains bold. A great card from a classic set.
