Item Description
31.25x46.5" poster printed post World War I to advertise French "Calisia" apértif wine. c. 1918-1919. Poster features French text and art by George Desain featuring Canadian and French soldiers raising a glass together w/short French soldier standing on wooden "Calisia" crate w/bottle of the wine as tall Canadian soldier holds his smoking pipe. Ocean w/ship can be seen in bkg. as well as man carrying additional crates. Poster was originally folded and has now been linen-mounted. Moderate but evenly aged, poster does not appear to have had any restoration done along fold lines, which appear minimal as mounted. Fine/VF overall.
