Item Description
1.75" with candidate's "WM" initials enclosing photos of Wilson, U.S. Capitol and Marshall. Reads "March 4, 1913" with tiny text above lower oval line ©E.C.W. "Plato" N.Y. Design Pat. Appl'd For. The example in Hake Book III has 2005 revised value of $4,000. Like the book photo example, the off-white bkg. has very slightly darker tone on most of the outer edge to a depth between 1/16" and 1/4". The tonal difference seems to be air under the cello, not stain, and is most obvious on the outer edge beneath the oval. Typical surface oxidation on reverse with no paper, likely as issued, since that information is on the front. No color fade and cello is glossy. First we've ever offered. Overall rare and VF.
