Item Description

Exquisitely hand-decorated porcelain sculpture atop wooden base has impressive overall size of 12.5x15x10" tall. Sculpted by Enzo Arzenton, who first started producing sculptures for the Laurenz Disney Collection in 1983 and continued to do so until he retired in 1999; production on all Disney pieces then ceased. First released in 1990 w/an issue price of $1,890, the production run was supposed to be 2,500 pieces but as w/nearly every piece in this line, final production was much more limited. This particular piece had just 207 produced. The underside of the wood base and individual issue number on accompanying certificate states it is 101/2,500 only because these pieces were prepared in advance to the actual production of the sculptures. This sculpture incorporates some of the film's most popular characters including Mickey Mouse as Sorcerer's Apprentice, the Sorcerer Yen Sid, two brooms w/buckets, ostrich, hippo, satyr and sprite. Front edge has raised musical notes and anniversary scroll, metal plate attached to wood base below this. Does not come w/original box but sculpture is Mint as issued. An extraordinary sculpture which is a must-have for collectors of both Fantasia and Capodimonte. Tom Tumbusch Collection/Tomart Archives.
