Item Description
1.5" diameter by 1/16" thick,  double sided, hand engraved, award medal which tests as silver with a .5" tall hinged loop at the top so it could be suspended. One side has very detailed image of a snare drum and opposite side reads in full on the perimeter "To Thos. J. Hellrigle/Champion Drummer of the U.S." enclosing "Presented by his Friends/in/Cleveland, O./Nov. 9, 1868". We located a listing for this man in the Montgomery Co. (Dayton) Ohio (Civil War) Roll of Honor. He is listed as "Musician 35th O.V.I. 1861-62 Co. F, 10th Tenn. V. I. 1864-65. Some near microscopic surface wear on each side of a very minor nature. VF and unique.
