Item Description
Large 18-1/8x23.25" piece of stiff paper has mixed media original art recreation of the cover of the June, 1938 issue of "Action Comics" #1, which featured the first appearance of Superman. Art was done by Joe Shuster (1914-1992) who drew the original cover back in 1938. Shuster has signed at bottom left in pencil, adding "© DC Comics Inc" text at right. Art was done in the late 1970s/early 1980s during a period Shuster was creating various specialty pieces; mostly Superman portraits (as seen in items #1502-1503), whereas large recreations like this are rarely seen.
