Item Description
About 3" w/"New York 157" union bug in the field at 6 o'clock. Text around rim reads "Mayor Louis Bay Day/Hawthorne Unit, Passaic Co. Rep. League, Inc." Additional text at center "Win With Eisenhower Nixon Sat., Aug. 9, 1952 Asbury Park." Mayor Bay is the longest serving mayor in the 110 year history of Hawthorn holding the office for 40 years between 1947 and 1987. Scattered light brown dots of toning extending less than 1" from the outer edge around the circumference of the cream background. Otherwise only trivial surface wear. Extremely Fine. Superb construction. A prohibitively rare button that we do not recall encountering in our 50 years.
