Item Description
4-1/8x13.75" cardboard folder w/cloth binding along top opens to reveal interesting raised relief map of the Panama Canal, which was not yet completed at the time this map was produced, showing the completed canal w/locks, proposed fortifications, surrounding terrain, etc. Issued as promotional item by Chicago Railway Equipment Co., a supplier of heavy equipment for the canal. One piece of this equipment - a huge brake beam - is shown as a small image on map's cover. More than half of the binding has split and covers show moderate corner tip wear w/.75" tear at upper left corner and some moisture staining to bottom right corner. Back shows moderate moisture staining to most of back. VG overall, but map still displays Exc. Rare and historic.
