Item Description

19.5x27.75" artboard w/pen and ink original art for Dec. 20, 1953 Sunday page has 14 panels (not including paste-over title stat), all of which have been cut out and attached to artboard. Most panels measure 4.5x6-5/8" and feature a number of "Dick Tracy" characters, including Dick Tracy (who appears in six panels), Sam Catchem, Uncle Kincaid (who appears dressed as Santa Claus in last two panels), Bonnie Braids and Tess Trueheart, B.O. Plenty (who delivers Christmas tree to Sunny Dell Acres), Gravel Gertie, Sparkle Plenty and Wingy Plenty. Second panel is "Crimestopper" tip. Eleventh panel has Chicago Tribune copyright strip paste-over and last panel has handwritten date. Title paste-over is aged and top left margin has spot of moisture staining. Artboard has some corner tip wear and a few spots of staining. Fine overall. Panels have minor scattered wear and are VF to Exc. overall. Great example of a Christmas Sunday page.
