Item Description

6.75" tall (to top of hat held in hand) mechanical Yellow Kid figure. c. 1890s. Figure wears yellow (heavily aged/stained) nightshirt and has moving, mechanical arm action activated by wire lever on back that causes him to tip hat. Body is wooden block w/attached cast metal head, hands (attached to wires) and hat. 1.75" dia. wooden base (w/1.25" edge piece missing) allows figure to stand upright for display. All metal parts were at one time painted, though these now show scattered wear, w/more moderate wear to hat's original yellow paint. Head has tiny craze lines, w/just lt. wear to edges of ears, tip of nose and cheeks. Hands show paint wear to raised areas. Shirt has several small holes/tears and figure is VG overall. Rare.
