Item Description
Lot of four. First three are all 1940s. 7" dia. felt beanie by Plymouth Hat Mfg. Co. Green color variety w/silk-screened characters featured including Lonesome Polecat and Abe Yokum w/Shmoos. Complete and unused w/"Dogpatch Styles" illustrated tag still attached. Tag has even lt. aging and some lt. handling wear. Beanie itself is Exc., old store stock. 10.75" long child's tie has silk-screened image of "The Shmoo" wearing Shmoo tie. Design shows some scattered wear and tie is VF overall. 4.5" dia. flocked patch feature "Li'l Abner's Shmoo" as ringmaster. Exc. 5.5" dia. embroidered insignia patch from U.S. Navy Fleet Air Support Squadron features Shmoo as mechanic alongside anthropomorphic airplane. 1960s, though this image was likely used by this unit since the 1940s.
