Item Description
See previous item #1454. This is bound volume for full year (1945). Inside front cover has three inkstamps noting "Property Of Promotion Dept. - Please Do Not Remove." Overall content includes Captain Marvel and other Fawcett comic covers shown throughout in various ways, including comic/magazine racks and newsstand displays (some of which also include other Golden Age comics). Some highlights include cover photo of Capt. W.H. Fawcett, Fawcett's founder, 1944 staff photo; photo showing actress Barbara Hale reading "The Blue Beetle" comic (noting Fawcett's distribution program as "The Blue Beetle" was published by Fox Comics); photo showing Mayor Kelly of Chicago reading "Captain Marvel Adventures" over the radio; two-page article titled "Both Public And National Sales In Present-Day Comics Increases Many-Fold During Past 8 Years, Researchers Reveal" w/comic panels showing Mary Marvel, Hoppy the Marvel Bunny, Blue Beetle, Captain Midnight, Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and others; photo of warplane w/"Captain Marvel" name and image painted on side; George Petty pin-up fold-out (there are several of these in this volume); two-page promotion showing "Fawcett's 10 Cent Printed Paper Products For Christmas" that includes Marvel Family characters and other Fawcett Funny Animals. Volume also includes much Fawcett and publishing industry news, w/insider and behind-the-scenes info as well as stories, facts and more. Slight aging to spine, w/some moisture along bottom edge, not affecting interior pages. Cover is Fine overall w/contents remaining clean and Exc. Truly a treasure trove of fascinating information. Scarce publication and rare as a bound volume. From the Fawcett files.
