Item Description

Alice Cooper's stage shows are well-known for their theatricality, w/the artist drawing equally from horror films, vaudeville and garage rock to pioneer a macabre and theatrical brand of rock designed to shock people. During 1973, Cooper added a guillotine to the band's stage act, designed by magician James Randi, who appeared on stage during some of the shows as executioner. It was at this time that a prop of a severed head of Alice Cooper was introduced, as the shock rocker's beheading was the climax of the show. Offered here is a latex prop head w/applied Alice Cooper wig and realistic paint job designed to make the head look as much like Cooper as possible, right down to his trademark make-up. Head dates to Cooper's 1989 "Trash" tour and was used in various concerts. Back of head has tube that allowed for blood to be pumped into head, allowing it to drip from foam interior of neck when presented to the audience. Head has moderate aging to latex, most notable to nose, which has become slightly misshapen. Glue repairs to underside of chin. Fine overall. Comes w/vintage ad (folded) and slide showing prop heads similar to the one offered here (several different heads were produced for each tour) being presented during concert. Also comes w/photo print of Cooper in concert, kneeling by guillotine. An amazing display piece as well as a part of Cooper stage history, as the act is still part of the band's stage show to this day.
