Item Description
A solar eclipse May 28, 1900 was fresh in the mind of button makers when the Democrats and Republicans nominated their candidates that summer. A number of different designs were produced including this one, which reads on the top edge "Partial Eclipse" with a real photo below of McKinley overlapping a smaller real photo of Bryan and concluding with the slogan "Will Be Total In November." Reverse has fixed horizontal pin and back paper of Indianapolis Photo Button Mfg. Co. Surface has trivial surface wear in reflected light and remains extraordinarily glossy. NM displaying Mint. It would be difficult to improve upon this high grade example.
