Item Description
Rare 1.25" striking button in pink and black with real photo of very attractive young woman posing seductively and wearing Middle Eastern garb suggestive of belly-dancing. Button has concave tin reverse with fixed horizontal bar pin. We found two references to her, one from late 1911 when she appeared in Altoona, Pa with the "Merry Maidens" burlesque company. Her billing was "The Dancer De Luxe." We found a second reference to a 1912 burlesque show titled "Wine, Women And Song" with her as the featured dancer coming to New Orleans from a "Long And Triumphal Run At The Savoy Theatre, New York." Only our second example in our 50 years. NM displaying Mint.
