Item Description
This is among the best and rarest of all farm equipment buttons. 1.25" with W&H back paper which has about eight faint tan spots. Cello has light stain on extreme upper left edge between 10-11 o'clock but is otherwise totally clean. Depicted from the rear view is the equipment operator seated in a fantastic farm harrow machine seemingly powered by bow-like sails centered by a balloon. The machinery is depicted airborne above a small rural village, which includes several houses, a factory and church with steeple. The operator is depicted using his hands as well as his yellow clog shoes on his feet to operate the machine's various levers and controls. Obviously a fantasy representation to illustrate the ease of actual operation. In addition to the machine's brand name, text lists the maker as "Swanson Mfg. Co. Shenandoah, Iowa." c. 1900 and one of only three we've seen in our 50 years.
