Item Description
9" long printed on green silk. Unlisted in Sullivan/Fischer. Featuring a graphic of a 23 star flag w/liberty cap atop pole and banner reading "Lancaster Convention." Additional text below reads "5th August, 1840/ VanBuren & Johnson/And The Independent Treasury/'Old Mother Cumberland.'/Unconquered And Unconquerable." Horizontal fold at center and several vertical and diagonal fabric pulls in top and bottom margins. Many of these are fragile but the only true separations are a less than 1.5" and a 1/2" vertical at top left. For accuracy we note a 1" vertical pull that affects the left side of the flag design. Good. Despite these flaws the ribbon presents strikingly and considering its extreme rarity we would not be surprised if this was the only example extant. Leon Rowe Collection.
