Item Description
First is a 1.25" celluloid with covered tin back carrying the name of the maker W&H. This piece is c. early 1900s. A ring holds it to an embossed brass bar pin which has a center slot indicating there was once a ribbon backing. What remains is in NM condition and depicts a black woman in apron extending her hands above the heads of a young black boy holding a hoop and a young black girl holding a black doll. Only example we've seen. Second piece is 4" tall with a brass hanger at the top holding a paper that a name could be written upon. Below is rwb ribbon and below are two links leading to a 1.75x2" tall die-cut piece of celluloid designed as a large cotton bale upon which a black man wearing a straw hat and eating a giant slice of watermelon is seated. Text is "16th Annual Convention/National Association/Of Dyers And Cleaners/Atlanta/Feb. 5-9, 1923." Back of hanger carries name of maker W&H. Only example we've seen and NM. A rare pair.
