Item Description
Large 3-3/8" button featuring art image of popular horror host with rim text reading "©Zacherly Lic. Sid Rubin Enterprises-Mfg. Imprint Art." Zacherly was portrayed by John Zacherle on WCAU-TV Philadelphia's channel 10 as host of "Shock Theater" from Oct. 7, 1957 to Sept. 13, 1958. Dick Clark supposedly gave Zacherle the nickname "The Cool Ghoul." In 1958, Zacherly cut "Dinner With Drac" for Cameo Records and moved to New York City television where his shows included the 1960s Chiller Theater on WPIX. Text on this button reads "Vote For Zacherly" and a skull appears over his shoulder. Reverse has lost most of the silver flashing but the celluloid remains clean and glossy. There are about six long hairline scratches across the center of the button running vertically that will catch reflected light but under most viewing angles do not show at all. Button still displays Mint. There is also a green color variety of this button. Both are rare and the first example of this design which we offered in Auction #214 exceeded $250. VF displaying Mint from most viewing angles.
